Color Discrimination

Over 302 years ago, William "Willie" Lynch a British slave owner from the West Indies wrote a letter to Colony of Virgina's slave owners when he got a whiff of how they were hanging their "valuable stock." Lynch explained to them that these people are of good economics which your loosing."You are not only losing valuable stock by hangings, you are having uprisings, slaves are running away, your crops are sometimes left in the fields too long for maximum profit, you suffer occasional fires, your animals are killed." Lynch noticed that there was a problem and told the men of Virgina that he had a sure way of controlling black slaves for at least 300 hundred years if not longer. He outlined a number of differences among the slaves which he took and made them bigger. List consist of:

• Age
• Color/Shade
• Intelligence
• Size
• Sex
• Status
• Size of Plantations (house)

Lynch expressed to them that they must pitch the

• Old black male -vs- the young black male
• Dark skin slaves -vs- Light skin slaves (vice verse)
• Females -vs- Males (vice verse)

and there must be a white servant and overseers. It was necessary that slaves loved, trusted, respected, and depended on their owners. Its been over 300 hundred years and these same differences still exist and continue to separate the African American community. Men disrespect women and women are more independent then ever. If women aren't light/dark enough there's an issue, or curvy enough. How about the lenght or texture of a woman's hair? Yes, that's an issue too. If women don't have the right attitude they are "bitches, hoes, and thots." Let's not forget how grown women degrade each other because of the lack of knowledge. Take these reality television show for example, African American or Caucasian it really doesn't matter. In most cases, some of these women don't even associate with one another unless they are filming. Personally, I believe/know that women can take one look at other women and judge them immediately off of their looks alone. This is not just a women thing it's a concern that has pleged the African American community for 302 years which is much longer then intended. History has indeed repeated itself.
