Hello Newbie Naturals! It’s Monday and time for a weekly update on how to care for you hair.
As always, I found some charts to give you a visual of what’s going to be discussed to day. Let’s get to it! The first two points of each column is referring to the LOC Method.
LOC– Stands for Liquid, Oil, and Cream. This method has been around for awhile now and I often use it myself. After cleansing my hair I apply a leave-in conditioner or moisturizer. Then, a day later apply olive oil to seal in the moisture. Don’t just slap the products in your hair thinking that its going to come out looking glamorous. Take the time to work each product in your hair or combine your oil and cream together. Moisture is the key to the frizzes in the summer and dryness in the winter. Pay attention to how often you need to apply the products to your hair. For example, moisturize and seal your hair every 2-3 days or as often as you need to. Let’s keep in mind that you don’t want to way-down your hair with products your trying to give it life.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with other oils such as:
- Castor oil
- Black Jamaican Castor oil
- Hemp and Fennel seed oil
- Almond oil
- Jojoba oil
- Grapeseed oil
I’ve noticed within a short period of time that with each texture of hair a Shea Butter based or heavy cream products are not for every texture. So my closing statement is, for the straight and loosely curl ladies go for products that don’t incorporate heavy creams and for the tight, kinky curly ladies go for it.
